Yürütülecek çalışmada, genel tarama modellerinden literatür incelemeleri, nitel ve 360 derece panoramik fotoğraf çekimlerinin sayısal ortamda işlenmesi vb. Bu gerekçeler ışığında, 360 derece panoramik sanal tur uygulama örneğinin Mersin Üniversitesi Çiftlikköy Yerleşkesinde oluşturulması düşünülmüştür. Aynı zamanda çeşitli hareketli görüntü ve nesneler ile birlikte sanal tur içerisinde kullanıcıya rehber olacak yazı ve medya uygulamalarının da içerisine dâhil edilmesi hem görsel zenginliğini artıracak hem de gezinilen mekân hakkında bilgi alma ve fikir yürütme konusunda yardımcı olacaktır. Bu sanal turlar yatay ve düşey eksenin tamamında gezinme imkânı sağladığından, kullanıcıya uygulama içerisinde gezinirken gerçeklik hissiyatı yaratmaktadır. Sanal gerçeklik tekniği ile elde edilen sanal tur uygulamalarının, görsellik açısından en çok tercih edilen türü, 360 derece panoramik sanal turlardır. Fotoğrafta sanal gerçeklik konuyu sonsuz bir görüş açısıyla interaktif (etkileşimli) olarak potansiyel kullanıcıya sunulmasıdır. Günümüzde sayısal fotoğrafçılığın ulaştığı son noktalardan birisi de sanal gerçekliktir.
